Ajean Ryan (she, her) creates drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations based on the themes of abstraction, identity and the reinterpreted landscape. She received her BA in Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting from UCLA and then went to receive her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts at UC Berkeley. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in museums, galleries as well as non-profit spaces. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the Creative Capital Workshop Grant. After many years in the Department of Art and Art History at Colorado State University, she accepted a position as Full Professor at The American University of Paris in 2026 and where she currently resides with her family and two dogs.
